 VitalNet
is a secure, structured, real time data distribution network, using
128-bit encryption technology. With each VitalLink3 unit
and VitalNet server having its own software certificate the system
ensures end-to-end security, as well as certified authentication and
full traceability.
Data from the VitalLink3 unit is transmitted to its medical
service provider’s VitalNet server where multiple, authorised
clinicians can simultaneously monitor single or multiple units.
Where required, the structured topology of the network means a medical
service provider can grant access for other selected service providers.
Instances might include the need for second opinions, the sharing
of workload or as a system back-up. In this  way
the VitalNet platform offers simplified access and integration to
existing medical IT systems.
The same topology allows for multi-point ‘fail over’, whereby
multiple data routing options are made available to ensure that the
transmission always gets through.
Software upgrades for both the VitalNet servers and VitalLink3
units automatically download ‘top down’ across the structure
so as to ensure that all participants are working to the most recent
upgrade. This automatic process drastically reduces the need for costly
field service visits.
